I am overwhelmed

We should all welcome our dear friend Santa back where he belongs. I have missed him so much as I am sure you have too. I hope and pray the evil doers that have kept him off this site has gone away for good. What makes people decide that they can determine who is on this site. It has been just nasty for Santa and others. I am ashamed of whomever has done this to them.

I am so happy with my beautiful new site. My dear friend Santa created it for me as my dear
friend perps pointed out. I have remarkable friends and I feel I wish I could do something to thank each and every one...maybe I will get a brain flash and create an award...relax Santa...I really didn't mean you should do it (laughing).

Last night we took out daughter-in-law number one (in more ways then one) and family
for dinner at a steer house...my poor son (older son) had just had a root canal but he managed to eat a crab meat pie...Grumpy (no that's not a typo) had a steak, one of the beautiful granddaughters had a chicken dinner and the other had a burger and clam chowder...the birthday girl and I had surf and turf...lobster pie and prime rib...I could only eat half of the beef but demolished every other bite...Grumpy didn't even faint this time when the bill came.

I asked the waitress to bring something special with a candle in it so we could sing happy birthday. She brought something with cake, ice cream, whipped cream, hot fudge, and a cherry.
When asked if she wanted extra spoons with witch to share she laughed and said "no thanks, this will be just fine" so funny and such a good time.

I will be boring you from time to time with details of my life...you can run away...I don't blame you.

Thanks to Santa I have a lovely new site and I will honestly try to keep it in good shape and not lose the passwords again (silly me).

A Perfect Day

Older son and his family had a wonderful party on Saturday. They live on the top of a hill with a long driveway so it was perfect. No other houses are very close so they set up the band, put out tons of food and off we went.

What was extremely interesting was that guys from his other bands, from years ago came by and so people would join and others would leave. Some of the younger kids had an opportunity to join in and they were thrilled. How many fifteen year olds have the chance to play with established guitar players and drummers etc.

The small children had the moon bounce all day and you can just imagine how excited they were to have that. It was cool and breezy and the bugs didn't come out until dark. If we had an opportunity to select a day that was good for everyone this would have been it.

Family and friends, young and old, singing and eating together (okay not oysters or pink Floyd for me thanks) but it was wonderful and the fact that they have it once a year is something else to anticipate. The last four years it has rained so they had to set up the band in their basement and put up huge tents for the food and seats but this was the one. A perfect day.

Thanks my Friends

Thanks for all your well wishes. It really makes me feel good to know I have so many friends out here in blog land.

This time I frightened myself because they could not convert my heart beat for over six hours...the rest of the time they were checking lungs etc. for blood clots...so gross. Anyway I am doing just what the doctors ordered and taking it easy for a bit so I should have tons of time to blog. Now if one of my friends will just drop over to clean my house and do some ironing...that will be terrific...maybe kick all the men in my life to the curb (that was the recommendation of one doctor) he he he...

Anyway thanks for caring.

Old friends

We spent the day friday with four old friends...very old friends...the six of us went to lunch in Rye New Hampshire at a terrific seafood place called Petey's...so good.

Five of us had great Seafood...after all, that's what they are noted for. One friend got a steak. Not just a steak but a well done steak...ewewe

Then we went back to our friends who have a cottage by the sea in Hampton...oh my gosh...it has five rooms but it's so huge. They even have a turret where they can see the ocean because they live on a side street. The ceilings are about 30 feet. You wouldn't believe it. It's so lovely he is an architect but she also had some wonderful ideas. I'm going back in a few weeks to stay for a bit. Of course, by the time we left it was raining again...I'm so sick of the rain.

Well that's part of my weekend...how was yours?

Santa's cutting a rug

Hubby and I went to a wedding Saturday night and lo and behold..Santa and the Mrs. were there..in disguise of course..it was awesome.

When the music first started I noticed a very handsome man with a white beard, dressed in a lovely black suit , white shirt and red tie dancing dangerously close to an elegant women in a long black gown. What gave them away was the cap she wore to help control her lovely tight curls and her round glasses perched on the end of her nose sealed the deal.

Oh the attention they received. And did you know they were cool enough to surprise everyone with their hip hop routine .

Hubby didn't believe me but when we managed to dance near them he heard Santa's distinctive
Ho Ho Ho...the old rascal even managed to dance with the bride and got in tons of pictures and video too..and me without my camera.

He bent down and asked "having a good time Maunie"? I asked him for a dance but said he was sorry but Mrs. Clause did not get him alone very often. They left soon after and everyone asked...did you just hear bells. It's okay Santa...it will be our little secret. Hope you had lots of fun. I know I did.

Girls of today

Maybe it's just me but the young girls of today are far more beautiful then they were twenty thirty even forty years ago. To prove it a bunch of us pulled out our yearbooks and looked. Out of three hundred plus girls there were maybe a dozen girls that were considered very beautiful...okay very pretty. Today you have to look long and hard for a girl between the ages of fourteen to twenty to find one who is plain.

Is it just me? Something in the water? The fact that they play sports? Are constantly at the gym? What is it? My granddaughters are not cute...they are beautiful and so are all of their friends. It's amazing to me and they are not running out at twelve to get their noses done or fat sucked out they are born this way. In one way it's incredible another it's scary. How did this happen?

Hubby and I went to a wedding Saturday evening and we were astonished at the bridesmaids and friends of the bride and groom. I think it's wonderful but pity the poor girl who doesn't measure up. What happens to her? Is she forever in exile or doomed to get help from the Stepford Community? Anyway it's just me ranting again..as Gilda always said..never mind.

Penny has a fit

Okay we have positively spoiled our cat. Well the thing is we concentrate all our energies on her and she knows she is the queen of all things. She is not a fan of air conditioning, even though she
has semi long hair for a cat.

Now when she doesn't get what she wants she throws herself down on the floor (like a two year old) and howls. Can you just imagine?

I was upstairs making the bed when she decided it was time for a treat. She was further aggravated to realize I was not down here to witness her nonsense so she stopped her screaming..walked up the stairs and into the bedroom..as calm as can be and when she saw me
she started her routine again..it was hilarious.

So the air conditioning thing..she prefers to sit outside in a sunbeam so we have to lock the front door and allow her to rest out there. I did that one day and forgot the screen door in
the back was locked so hubby and young son were trying to figure out how to get in..unfortunately the only window unlocked was the one where the window box is. They argued about who would climb in..poor hubby lost..got a ladder and climbed in the window, over the window box and over the leather couch..he was furious when I got home..some people just don't like to try something different.

This morning she thought it would be nice if I got up at six. So here I sit, coffee in hand waiting for the paper to be delivered. Maybe tomorrow I'll try tough love.

Is it just me?

I guess it maybe just me but how come there are so many cheats and fakers in the world.

Four years ago I had an accident in my oldest son's car. No one in my car was hurt..it was just a

fender bender, but the operator of the car I "bumped" into received a huge settlement and now,

four years later, after settling another "case" her mother is suing me and the insurance company

suggests I should get my own attorney in case the settlement is over 100,000 dollars..are you

kidding me? One hundred freakin thousand dollars. We could lose our house. Just so people

don't have to get real jobs and want to live off the backs of others. Excuse me for ranting but I

am truly sick over this and can't believe this is happening...my poor son, out of the goodness of

his heart lets me borrow a car because it was larger then mine and this happens..I don't care

about the money as much as the duplicity. What happened to Karma? What happened to tell

the truth..maybe it is just me. Is it really just me?

The day after a holliday weekend

How does your house look today? Like a herd of rampaging elephants has run through it? Like the ghost with little white pieces of paper (think confetti) dropped stuff all over your rugs..As you look in the fridge and freezer...nothing left to eat? Welcome to my world.

Out of guilt we had two cookouts and attended one...the one we went to was wonderful...everything tasted especially good...seemed to look more appetizing..it was so great.
When it's your house all you do is run and even though everything seemed to vanish I get so worried that I don't even seem to taste anything...but it seemed a good time was had by all.

People want to come to our house because of the in ground pool...Today...I say fill it in and plant tomatoes....at least I'll make sure no one pee's or poop's on them...

I really need some help

Hubby is great about doing things around the house, but at his own pace..for instance the pool has been opened for two weeks but it's not ready to be used yet...the chemicals are not right and it hasn't been vacuumed, but Hubby claims..one of these days...

His garden is not fully planted..his friends are taking lettuce, cauliflower, and wonderful other things out of theirs but his is droopy and not fully planted.

Around the cement are clusters of weeds and stones...the furniture is not outside, the pool stuff is still in the garage. And I don't even know if he has the necessary chemicals to start the pool.

I am doing all I can..really..but I was absent when the art of nagging was discussed and I don't know how to go about it.

I tried the helpless female but he said "your doing great..keep going" meanwhile he and young son have been fishing, golfing...all the usual guy stuff..come on help a friend out here..just get me started..nothing too much..I don't want to be a statistic...I just need to know how to get him motivated without him wanting to kill me..please...just whisper in my ear..

Lazy Penny Good Penny

I think Penny, my beautiful cat, has a split personality. I know she is nuts..they say animals take on the traits of their owners so...I guess it's true.
This morning she was crying inconsolably about nothing. I changed her water..gave her food..even broke down and gave her treats. But she would not stop crying..Young son came in and she hid behind the chair until he went up for a shower..Okay she doesn't like him, but she hid the jersey I had just ironed for him..and one of his sneakers..In about five minutes..so he came in the kitchen..looking for his stuff and started yelling..it's not funny. It took me a few minutes to figure out what had happened. So I locked the outside door and put her on the front porch..it's all windows and it's her favorite place to be. She started howling again..we opened the door and she stalked in and started yelling at me in cat speak...I don't speak cat language.
Then older son came over looking for a specific tool and he and his Dad went to retrieve it from some friend they had loaned it too and she started again...I held her for about five minutes but I can't spend my life holding my cat..can I?
Now it's just the two of us and she's fine..I am typing away and she is on her comfy chair with her favorite blanket...maybe she is a tad spoiled? hummm

Happy Fathers Day

From Santa in the North Pole..with all his elves...to all the other Dads everywhere the very
happiest of fathers day's.

This new generation of fathers is awesome. Both sons were hands on with their babies. Unlike our hubbies, for the most part. My hubby worked sometimes sixty hour weeks and was
even called out in the middle of the night. At that time he was a foreman in the telephone Company. He wasn't there to change diapers and give bottles but occasionally he did. My oldest son was holding his daughter the first time we saw her. Her Mom had a cesarean birth and was out of it most of the time. He did all the feeding and changing in the hospital and a lot of it at home. His second baby was born in January so he worked very little except for plowing and he took over with her too. I was amazed.

Young son spent every moment he could with his son. So different from the way our Dads and Hubby's interacted, but much better. So....all you hardworking and hands on dads...the happiest and most relaxing day to you all, you deserve it.

Happy fathers day

Another fine mess

My two sons are not getting along. That's putting it mildly. Ands on father's day. What to do? We were all supposed to go to daughter-in-law's house for dinner. Then, older son declared taking young son would ruin another holiday for him. He made me so nervous that we decided to go out to dinner. Older son said "well you made your choice...are you happy?" Of course I haven't made my choice. And I am assuredly not happy.

Since they were small they argued and fought..we thought it was just sibling rivalry but now it has escalated into a form of pure hatred..It's so hard to try to make a holiday peaceful and hubby is taking the brunt of it today. So the three of us will go out and sidestep the big gathering, it's such a shame.

Hubby is getting concerned about his weight..he's not really large he just has a huge belly and sort of looks like that guy who is carrying the baby. It would be so nice if all men followed suit.
Of course, there would only be one child per family but still, it would be nice. I can see all women smirking at the very thought. Then, they will find out how difficult it is...especially in the summer.

Well, that's my new rant for the day..happy fathers day to all of you wonderful Dads.

Money Woes

You will not believe it. I'm not kidding you absolutely will not believe this..hubby...has put me on an allowance...me...on an allowance...are you as flabbergasted as I am? It started on Monday but I luckily had a few bucks put away because by Wednesday I was flat broke again. Now that's gone too!!! he will not relent...and claims I spend too much money. I haven't been on an allowance since...never...I have never been on an allowance or a budget or anything and I do NOT spend too much money.

He told me to get a part time job...in the summer...with the pool open...and the beach ten minutes from the house...I don't think so...and who will feed the hungry hordes who come to the pool every day...doesn't he know how much it cost for sandwiches and drinks and fruit? Of course he doesn't...but that's kind of why he took my cash access away...gee...he said if there was a poor house anymore we would be going to it...and me...because I am the cause of all this would have to have a room without a window...because I'm claustrophobic...see how mean he is...he said he will buy groceries on Tuesdays and when we run out of food oh well...oh well..my poor hungry grand children and their friends could starve to death...

I am thinking about options...maybe robbing a bank...or a gas station...that's where all the money is these days...who's up for helping me? I'm a great driver so I will drive the get away car. I will also write the note...not that I am a better writer but I am much more menacing...
Now, we just need someone to wear a costume and do the physical robbing. Come on I know one of you can be up for it...and we will split...70 for me 30 percent for you cuz after all I thought of it.

Who's with me?

The Mess in my head

When I woke up I was so cranky...not really like me...My allergy is bad and I ache all over...
I'm really not a cry baby but today is not a good day...

Hubby and young son are still replacing the fence that surrounds the pool and they are cranky also...and the weathers wonderful...and we have a nice breeze..we should all be sent to the island of cranky ingrates. Anyway, no matter what I do I am triping over them...I was doing laundry and they had to be down stairs...changing the bed and they are needing clean towels from the linen closet...now my neighbor comes in exclaiming about the stupid people who actually buy into the whole bottled water thing...just another thing to get hubby going...look...I can't kill everyone...so let's narrow the list...Hubby for obvious reasons...young son..again needs no explaination...now my favorite neighbor...what to do..so many suspects only one spare bullet.
Do ya think I can talk them into lining up...one after the other?

Another fun day!

I think I'm accident prone. I'm not kidding I am the biggest klutz in the world.

I was talking to my granddaughter and we were talking about when we visited my nephew
Jim and his family. Oh yeah Nana said she, remember you threw yourself in the bushes? Well I
don't quite remember it that way. I tripped and fell in, and her father, my oldest son, was so surprised he pulled me up with one arm and yelled at me for falling...MEN!!

But the funniest time was when you didn't let go of the bowling ball and fell down the alley. Oh my gosh Nana that was really a riot...well I do aim to please.. I thought

How about when you were in Florida and you were holding Penny and Grampy came at you with the new toilet and you hurt yourself rather then hurt Penny..by now you could tell she was going to wet her pants she was laughing so hard...serve her right...anyway Grampy was not threatening me with a toilet..he didn't quite see me and I was trying to get out of the way!!!

Oh, oh, oh, what about the time we forced you to jump in the pool and you almost swallowed
half the water...gasp..gasp..okay sweetie I think Nana has entertained you enough for one day..
tell Mom I will call her later...good thing she is cute as a bugs ear...at least if she hurts other peoples feelings they will still love her too..

Spring Time

It's spring in Massachusetts and I have proof...it's warm and wonderful and I have bought tons of plants and herbs to plant and I can't wait.

One tiny problem...I can't breath outside...not an exaggeration..I can't even see that well...my eyes are all swollen..my nose runs...I cough and sneeze...and I can't take anything that may effect my a- fib.

If hubby ever finds out how much I have spent on flowers and things...well...I may just have to move in with one of you guys...I know perps...I promised no more credit card use but it's spring!

I was just thinking...is pollen as bad at night? Of course trying to plant, even in the barrels may be awkward if it's dark...and I'm such a scarredy cat anything in the dark frightens me...
wish spending money and dealing with hubby scared me...I'll tell him about the wonderful sales I found...do you think he will buy that?

Unfortunately seeing them all nicely lined up in the garage is not making me happy...I even need more potting soil...think I will ask older son to drop some off for me...and if he's not too busy maybe he can plant some of them...after all... I am his loving Mom right?

Oh well...it's worth a try...excuse me for now...I'm baking hubby's favorite dessert right now..no reason...

So sorry the allergies are that bad. The favourite fod trick has worked for many a housewife.. hopefully it will work for you.

And yes, your son should help his mamma!

Nope, no reason for that dessert at all!

If you love flowers, go for it. Have fun, despite the allergies. I was pulling weeds earlier and still have the allergic welts to prove it.

I've heard that local honey is good for allergies. I don't know if it's true or not, but there ya go. That might be worth a try?
